We are rapidly growing our L&D function and bringing back Blizzard University! Today's summit was focused on the future, but don’t be fooled: the women at Blizzard are not just what’s next but what’s right NOW in gaming. and our Experiential team - Benjamin Elgueta, Brandy Stratton, CMP, Thordis Howard and Tom Tyron for making this much-needed day of connection and collaboration possible. Last but certainly not least, ALL the praise and gratitude for the tireless Makaiya "MK" B. It was extra special for me personally to have the opportunity to speak with my colleagues Dani Chang and Kristen Hines around work-life alignment and balance - a topic I’m deeply passionate about both for myself, as a working mom of three, and for all the people at Blizzard balancing their personal responsibilities with the work they love.Ī special thanks to Jane McGonigal for motivating us all to go claim the future we want, and for the sound and practical career advice from Lydia Bottegoni, Jill Modyman and Yijing (Sibyl) Dong. I spent today at the #BlizzardWomensSummit, surrounded by so many exceptional women, non-binary individuals, and allies who are achieving equally exceptional things here at Blizzard Entertainment and beyond. #learninganddevelopment #careergrowth #team #learning #gaming #gamingindustry #lifeatblizzard A huge shout out to Rex Luther, Dani Chang, Angie Engelbert, Gabby Phan, David Tiscareno, Daniel Duffin, Steve Derrick, and Darlene Hoyte plus our always stellar Experiential Team ( Benjamin Elgueta, Dan Joyce, Kim Hein, Dan Plomin and Tom Tryon) for bringing the back to school energy!! Moments like this and the ongoing learning opportunities to follow are only possible with a talented and dedicated team. Last week, we relaunched this core, specialized learning resource in epic fashion as only Blizzard can, bringing together more than 2500 employees in person and virtually for our very own university “orientation.” From new game design curriculum to live drawing to meet & greets with any of our 13 hobby clubs and #DEI Employee Network Groups, it was a demonstration of our commitment to continuous growth, career opportunity and community. Learning is part of the original code of who we are here at Blizzard Entertainment, and Blizzard University - #BlizzU as we know it - continues to be one of primary reasons people come to and stay at Blizzard. #womenshistorymonth #internationalwomensday #sponsorship #womeningaming #advocacy #inclusion #representationmatters Let's celebrate the amazing women in our lives and communities, but then turn around, reach back and open the door behind you. Connect them to other folks who could help them. Yet this Women's History Month, challenge yourself further to go meet at least one of the remarkable but hidden woman leaders in your organization. Women deserve to be celebrated, and it's inspiring seeing all of the amazing posts and content about influential women crushing it in every field and under-recognized trailblazers. Women leaders are there - probably right next to you. Throughout my career, I've had fantastic women leaders and mentors who have helped me advance, but I also found some of the best leadership not when I looked up, but looked around and within my own team. According to recent studies, women still occupy only 32% of leadership roles globally, and systemic inequalities make it such that individual efforts by women will not be enough to close the gap. ![]() ![]() But sometimes those folks can be hard to find. In particular, I loved my conversations with a few talented employees who are earlier in their careers and seeking mentors who look like them to help guide their path forward. I felt fortunate to spend International Women's Day with so many incredible women and non-binary individuals here at Blizzard.
